The Preble County Coroner’s Office is investigating after a 35-year-old man died in a suspected drowning, officials said Saturday morning.
Investigators said they recovered the man’s body just south of Eaton in Seven Mile Creek around 8:35 a.m. He was identified him as Jagat Ghimire of Liberty Township.
Police searched since 5:32 p.m. Friday after a family member who Ghimire was fishing with stated he was missing.
Deputies were assisted by Eaton Fire & EMS, MedFlight and the Butler County Sheriff's Office Friday evening during their search of the large wooded and grassy area surrounding the creek, officials said.
The search continued overnight and was suspended at 3 a.m. Saturday. Police searched again at 8 a.m. when K-9 units and deputies located the body in the creek, in several feet of water.
Police say the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is performing an autopsy.
The case remains under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff's Office and the Preble County Coroner's Office.
