Man found guilty of murder in shooting death of Dayton man

A jury has found a man guilty on all counts — including murder — in the shooting death of a Dayton man during a 2017 robbery.

Trenton Williams, 28, of Columbus, was convicted of aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, felonious assault and having weapons while under disability in the death Taelor Taylor.

Williams is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 18.

His trial started Monday in Judge Michael Krumholtz’s court room and the jury began deliberations Friday morning, according to a Montgomery County Common Pleas Court official.

The jury returned the verdict around noon.

Williams was the second person convicted in Taylor’s death.

In April, Trashune Young pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery and having a weapon while under disability, according to court records.

He was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Police found Taylor shot to death on the porch of his North Trenton Street home on Nov. 28, 2017.

A surveillance camera at the home showed three suspects approach his home with at least two guns.

Young and Williams were taken into custody in December 2017, after they were identified on the surveillance video.
