Harold Fitch, 73, of Springfield, was a long-time tennis coach with the district, the Greenon Local School District’s Facebook post said.
“We are deeply saddened to share that Harold Fitch, a longtime tennis coach at Greenon High School, passed away over the weekend,” the post said. “Coach Fitch made a lasting impact on many of our students and families through his kindness and enthusiasm for tennis.”
Fitch’s visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Valley Freewill Baptist Church, 1821 Troy Road in Springfield, according to Fitch’s obituary.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. after the visitation.
Fitch was a longtime member of the church, where he served as a deacon, according to his obituary.
“He was a lifetime Wildcat fan, pickleball Sr. Olympian, chair volleyball, dedicated to his yard work and an avid tennis player and long-time tennis coach for Greenon High School,” his obituary read.
Fitch died in a crash around 8:10 p.m. Friday in the 5500 block of Dayton-Springfield Road after his 1998 Chevrolet Silverado was lodged underneath a semi-trailer.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
