MIAMISBURG — A Miamisburg man remained in the Montgomery County jail Thursday, accused of setting a couch on fire to rid it of bed bugs.
Danny W. Alcorn, 56, was charged Thursday with aggravated arson, a second-degree felony.
On Wednesday, Alcorn was arrested outside his Pearl Street residence by a police officer responding to a 5:50 p.m. fire call.
Local firefighters were putting out a fire in a couch in the yard between a carry-out and Alcorn’s residence, according to reports. Heat from the fire damaged siding on the carry-out.
“Danny Alcorn was determined to have set the couch on fire in an attempt to eliminate bed bugs,” Officer Justin Small said in the report.
Alcorn was also charged with an open container violation. A pocket knife and cigarette lighter were confiscated.
