Genealogical society plans program for June 6

The Miami County Historical & Genealogical Society will present a program by Jenni Salmon of the Ohio History Connection on June 6 at 10 a.m. at the Piqua Public Library, 116 W. High St. The topic will be unearthing roots with Ohio newspapers.

The program is free and open to the public.

School board has special meeting tonight

The Tipp City schools board of education will hold a special meeting today at 7:30 p.m. at the board office.

The meeting is to discuss the district’s proposed request for state classroom funding. The board has discussed the application at several meetings. Another special meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING

Last week to see exhibit of Lincoln artifacts

The final day to see Remembering Lincoln, an exhibition of Lincoln artifacts and memorabilia, is Sunday. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is located at 301 W. Main St., Troy.

Remembering Lincoln features pieces from regional museums and libraries, as well as private collectors.

Hours of operation are 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. The Hayner Center is closed on holidays.
