Miami University fires head football coach

Don Treadwell, a 1982 alumni of MU, was fired after an 8-21 record in 29 career games at the school. After losing 9-21 to Mid American Conference foes Central Michigan on Saturday, Treadwell's team fell to 0-5 on the year.

"I have decided to make a change in our football leadership now in hopes of seeing improved performance the rest of the season," Director of Athletics David Sayler said in a statement. "Don is a great man, nobody can disagree with that, but I felt a change was needed immediately in the direction of the program."

Sayler also announced the firing of offensive coordinator John Klacik. The current RedHawks squad has been outscored 44-178 in five games this season.

Quarterbacks/wide receiver coach Mike Bath has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the 2013 season. Bath has been a player, graduate assistant and assistant coach for the RedHawks over the past ten years, according to a release.
