Middletown police: Homeless man arrested in River Valley Credit Union robbery

UPDATE @ 4:55 p.m.: A 27-year-old homeless man is being booked into the city jail on a charge of robbery after police said he asked a teller at the River Valley Credit Union not to call police, Middletown police said.

Suspect Michael Adkins gave a teller a note asking that police not be called and was given an undisclosed amount of cash.

The dye pack included with the cash exploded after he walked out of the business, according to Middletown police, who were dispatched to the robbery along with troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Officers located Adkins in the area of Batsy Drive and Breiel Boulevard, less than a half-mile away from the credit union on Elliott Drive.

Adkins did not show a weapon and was arrested without incident, police said.

The suspect in the robbery of the River Valley Credit Union in Middletown on Thursday afternoon has been apprehended, police said.

The robbery of the credit union on Elliott Drive was reported about 3:30 p.m. and police said the intruder made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
