Quartet performing with high school orchestra

The Section Quartet will be performing with the West Carrollton High School Orchestra at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Guiler Auditorium.

Admission is a donation of any amount.

The string quartet from Los Angeles has played on recordings by popular artists including the Foo Fighters, Aerosmith, Dr. Dre, Christina Aguilera and Kanye West. STAFF REPORT

Feast of Giving Thanksgiving dinner set for Nov. 26

The seventh annual Feast of Giving, Thanksgiving in Dayton will be held at the Dayton Convention Center on Thursday, Nov. 26. Doors open at 11 a.m. and dinner will be served until 2 p.m. No tickets are needed to attend.

There will be free parking at the convention center garage. Free RTA and Project Mobility transportation to and from the convention center from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be provided. Call 937-425-8300 for RTA information.

The Feast of Giving Fund is accepting donations. Checks payable to The Feast of Giving Fund c/o The Dayton Foundation can be mailed to The Dayton Foundation, 40 N. Main St., Suite 500, Dayton, OH 45423.

South Metro Regional Chamber of Commerce is holding its Holiday Business Showcase on Wednesday.

Store collecting toys for children

Menards’, located at Lyons Crossing, 8480 Springboro Pike, is collecting new Christmas toys that the store says will be distributed to less fortunate children in the community.

There will be drop boxes near the exit door to collect new and unwrapped presents from now through mid-December.

Toy drives are under way at all stores in the home improvement chain. STAFF REPORT

City seeks volunteers for Arts Commission

The city of Centerville is seeking citizens to fill volunteer vacancies on the Centerville Arts Commission.

Applicants must reside within the city of Centerville. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by members of the Centerville City Council. The terms are three years in length. Members meet at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, and committee meetings are scheduled as needed.

League of Women Voters to view movie

The League of Women Voters will present the movie “Suffragette” at The Neon, 130 E. Fifth St., on Tuesday. Movie times are 2:50 p.m., 5:20 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

The league will offer free popcorn to new members and will host a raffle.

“Suffragette” is inspired by true events of the women who risked it all for the right to vote.
