Police: Motorcycle rider injured in Miami Twp. collision had just bought bike

UPDATE @ 10:12 p.m.: The motorcycle rider injured in the collision on state Route 741 in Miami Twp. is said to be in stable condition -- and he'll be ticketed for driving without a license, Miami Twp. police said.

Police tell us the friends of the motorcyclist purchased the bike tonight but had not insured it, and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

His friends were following in a car from the place where he bought the bike, police said.

The driver of the car involved in the collision will be ticketed for improper left turn. According to police, the driver turned into the path of the bike while trying to enter the Meijer parking lot.

The driver of the car was not injured, police said.

A motorcycle rider has been taken to a hospital after a collision with a small sedan on state Route 741 (Springboro Pike) near Orchard Run Road in Miami Twp.

The motorcycle rider is believed to be in his mid 20s to early 30s, we're hearing. There has been no word whether the driver of the vehicle has been injured, although the driver is at the scene.

We're hearing there is heavy damage to the motorcycle and the front end of the vehicle.

Miami Twp. police are reconstructing the accident, meaning that northbound 741 is closed at the Meijer store. Police are directing traffic into and through the store parking lot.

Southbound 741 remains open.
