Fire Investigator Trevor Snider said firefighters had the incident under control in about an hour.
“Everything went well out there and nobody was injured,” Snider said.
Sometimes, due to heat, decomposing mulch can start to smolder. As a precaution, fire officials have previously said people should not throw cigarette butts into mulch.
