Multiple crashes cause morning backups on area freeways

Several crashes on area interstates Wednesday morning caused severe backups.

On Interstate 75 South, a crash was reported near Needmore Road around 7:30 a.m. The crash was reported on the left side of the road and was causing delays around 30 minutes, according to data from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

A second crash reported on Interstate 75 South was reported in Vandalia, north of Interstate 70 also around 7:30 a.m. that involved three vehicles, initial reports indicate.

Emergency crews in Greene County also responded to multiple issues on U.S. 35 West, starting around 7:10 a.m. A four-vehicle crash was first reported near the traffic light at Orchard Lane in the left lane. A second crash was reported shortly after and is blocking the right lane.

According to our crew, several side roads around U.S. 35 and Orchard Lane are congested due to drivers attempting to route around the backup.

In Centerville, on Interstate 675 North at the Wilmington Pike exit, a crash was reported around 7:50 a.m. and is on the left shoulder of the highway.
