MUST WATCH VIDEO: Rollover crash just misses Stafford Jewelers

An SUV was going about 70 miles per hour before it flipped three times and hit a statue in front a jewelry store near the Dayton Mall, accident to the incident report released Wednesday.  

The Sunday night accident that resulted in the Ford Escape going out of control before narrowly missing Stafford Jewelers on Ohio 725 has landed a man and a woman in jail, according to Montgomery County and Miami Twp. records. 

Authorities identified 27-year-old Samantha Tudor of Moraine as the driver. Records indicate West Carrollton resident Anthony Zimmer, 32, was in the vehicle with Tudor in the wreck that happened shortly before 9 p.m. 

Just before the accident, authorities said, Tudor was fleeing west from a Washington Twp. traffic stop and sped away, reaching about 70 mph, 25 mph over the speed limit. 

Tudor was on Miamisburg-Centerville Road when she "apparently lost control, going to the left lane, to the right lane," according to a Miami Twp. police report. The SUV "went sideways and then went off the roadway and (hit) the curb," according to the report. 

"After hitting the curb, the vehicle struck a large rock, causing the vehicle to flip." The vehicle "flipped three times" and "struck a large lion statue and came to final rest." 

Tudor and Zimmer were both arrested Sunday night and later booked into the county jail, where they remain in custody, records show. She faces possession of heroin, cocaine and aggravated possession of drugs after being cleared of other charges of vandalism and failure to comply, jail records show. Zimmer faces resisting arrest and obstructing official business, according to jail records.

Surveillance video from Stafford Jewelers shows the crash happen on Sunday night.  The video shows the vehicle just miss hitting the jewelry store.

UPDATE @ 1:09 p.m. (Oct. 3)

The female driver involved in this pursuit and rollover crash has been identified as Samantha A. Tudor, 27. She’s currently in Montgomery County Jail on charges of vandalism, failure to comply with police order, and possession of cocaine and heroin.

UPDATE @ 10:59 p.m. (Oct. 1)

A female driver who fled a traffic stop in Washington Twp. is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after crashing and flipping the SUV she was driving Sunday night. 

Deputies told our crew the woman and a male passenger both had warrants out for their arrest and were stopped by Washington Twp. crews in an unknown area before 9 p.m. 

Upon crashing the SUV, the man fled on foot before he was quickly caught and put into custody. The unidentified woman was taken to Kettering Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to deputies. 

Officers told our crew the SUV went airborne before flipping multiple times and landing on its top outside of Stafford Jewelers at 2555 Miaimisburg Centerville Road. 

Traffic is moving in the area as crews clear the scene and work to remove the mangled car.

INITIAL REPORT (Oct. 1)

Miami Twp. police are responding to the scene of a rollover crash on Miamisburg Centerville Road Sunday night. 

Dispatchers said one person has been taken to Kettering Hospital from the scene in front of Stafford Jewelers in the 2400 block. 

The car rolled following the initial crash, according to dispatchers. 

A caller into our newsroom reports the car can be seen on its top in front of the store. 

We are heading to the scene to learn more from police at the scene.
