No need for a debit card to use an ATM at this area bank

Fifth Third Bank has launched an app that can be used instead of a debit card at its ATMs.

“Fifth Third is bringing new innovations to customers on a regular basis, and I’m excited that this new feature connects two channels our customers use frequently – our mobile app and Fifth Third ATMs,” stated Melissa Stevens, Fifth Third’s chief digital officer.

Fifth Third — the largest bank in the Dayton region — said mobile banking is growing, with a 40 percent increase in log-ins to their mobile banking app from December 2016 to December 2017.

Fifth Third has about 2,500 ATMs in its 10-state retail footprint and they all have card-free access.

To use Fifth Third’s ATMs without a debit card, customers tap on the cardless ATM icon in the app, touch anywhere on an ATM screen and scan the code that appears, and then enter their PIN.
