“Rolling Indulgence” — a food-truck concept created by three employees of Carvers Steaks & Chops specifically for the cable television series “The Great Food Truck Race” that aired earlier this year on the Food Network — offered the first taste of its food to its Dayton-area fans at the Bacon Fest, and it won the nod for “Best Composed Bacon Dish” for its “Buttered BLT with Bacon Dressing.” The team also was voted the “People’s Choice for Most Baconlicious” top award.

Other winners included El Meson, which won the “Most Creative” award for its Cheesecake Bacon Bomb; Love Sweet-Umms, which scored the “Best Dessert” award for its Sweet Potato Bacon Dream Cake; and Amber Rose Restaurant and Catering, which won the “Critic’s Choice” award for Applewood Smoked Bacon White Cheddar Mac and Cheese.
The Rolling Indulgence crew includes Carvers head chef Drew Ballard; Ballard’s fiancee, Jess Sarra; and his roommate, Travis Day, both of whom also work for Carvers. The team, which is still waiting for its food truck to be fully outfitted and licensed, was joined as new Bacon Fest participants this year by Salar Restaurant & Lounge and Pa’s Pork.
