Oakwood trench collapse: Officials identify injured workers

Charles Rohrback, the Oakwood city worker buried up to his waist for hours Thursday in a trench collapse is awaiting medical approval to return to work, according to the city.

The names of Rohrback, a 21-year Public Works Department employee, and Philippe Prevoteau, a 25-year employee of the department injured when he tried to help Rohrback, were released Friday by the city’s personnel director.

Prevoteau has been medically cleared and returned to full duty Friday, said Jennifer Wilder, Oakwood’s Director of Personnel & Properties.

“The city is grateful that the incident did not result in more serious injury, and for the mutual aid response from many surrounding jurisdictions,” she said.

The city declined further comment citing further investigation by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation.
