2 males, ages 18 and 15, headed to court for pursuit, crash, foot chase in Franklin

UPDATE @ 4 p.m. (Dec. 10): A Dayton man remains in the Warren County Jail stemming from a police pursuit and foot chase early Monday that ended in Franklin.

D’Vonte Barnes, 18, is to be arraigned Tuesday in Franklin Municipal Court. He and a 15-year-old boy were arrested following the three-mile police pursuit and foot chase.

Barnes and the teen were on southbound Interstate 75 when Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers attempted to pull them over at the I-75/Ohio 73 interchange for speeding. The vehicle, reportedly stolen, was clocked at more than 80 mph, authorities said.

Lt. Chuck O’Bryon, Lebanon Post commander, said Barnes drove off on the exit ramp and continued into the city of Franklin at speeds exceeding 100 mph before the vehicle crashed at Cedar Street and Lake Avenue about 2:40 a.m.

A Warren County Sheriff’s deputy apprehended both males in the area of Cedar Street and Lake Avenue about 4:30 a.m. The two had run from authorities following the pursuit by troopers.

Barnes has been charged with felony fleeing and eluding, felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor obstructing official business. He is being detained in on a $50,000 bond.

The teenager has been charged with delinquency by reason of obstruction of official business and remains in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.

Lt. O’Bryon said the teenager, a Dayton resident, will be adjudicated in Montgomery County Juvenile Court. Juveniles are adjudicated in their home county, according to state law.
