Regional police officers are putting more eyes on the road with the goal of dissuading drunk drivers during the Super Bowl.

News Center 7 rode along with officers who will monitor heavily trafficked roads to keep an eye out for impaired drivers.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Matt Cleaveland said they will have extra units working during the weekend to search for crash-causing violations.

Last year, OSHP made 62 OVI-related arrests during Super Bowl Sunday. In Montgomery, there were four OVI-related crashes and in Greene County, there was one fatal OVI-related crash, OHSP reported.

Ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, OHSP has handed out stickers that say “fans don’t let fans drive impaired.”

News Center 7’s Monica Castro reported that there will be two or three extra units out on the street this weekend.
