The camp will focus on three core values that include football, STEM and leadership. STEM is science, technology, education and mathematics.
The participants will get real-life experienced from OSU football alums, NFL players and other professionals.
The football portion of the camp will give the children a chance to be coached by an expert at the position they play. Coaches include those from OSU football and the NFL.
The STEM portion of the camp will give the children a chance to get interactive with the enhanced Play Impossible station. The Gameball taps into the youth interest for technology and promotes physical health.
“Not everyone’s passion is sports, however, combining Play Impossible with the Buckeye Video Game Truck gives the participants an option. Kids love Fortnite, and we will be having a esports tourney on site,” said Miller.
The leadership portion of the camp is important, especially with the depression and suicide rates among young adults on the rise, according to Daniel David, managing partner for CHARG1NG and business manager for Miller.
The camp will have a motivational speaker to talk with the participants and boost their overall moral, the release said.
“I’m excited for this,” said Miller. “I’ll be announcing the speaker shortly, but I’m blessed for him to make the commitment.”
The camp will feature Ohio State alumni Kato “WorkTheCustom” Mitchell. He will design cleats for young athletes who would like to purchase them.
The MVP from each camp will get a free pair of cleats.
Creativity is something Miller wants to promote during the camp, and having Mitchell on site to help with the creativity of the young athletes is a bonus.
“Last year we had the legendary Kickasso customized cleats. It was surreal. However, I want to showcase local talent this year,” said Miller.
The event will include a camp T-shirt and other gear. Lunch and consistent hydration will be available throughout the camp. Live entertainment will be on site to promote cultural diversity.
The camps will be on July 13 at Wayne High School and July 14 in Columbus with a site to be announced. The third camp will be announced in the coming weeks, the release said.
Miller grew up in the Springfield area and attended Wayne High School in Huber Heights, where he excelled in football and basketball before becoming an Ohio State quarterback and wide receiver. He was drafted in the 2016 draft to the Houston Texans but currently plays wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles.
“It’s something I look forward to all year,” said Miller, “to be able go back to Ohio and bring everyone together including the youth, my teammates at OSU, and make a real cultural impact through the way the camp is produced from start to finish.”
