Police blotter: Vandalia, Tipp, Piqua, Troy

TIPP CITY (JULY 11) – A motorcycle rider was cited for reckless operation after he slowed down and “popped a wheelie” at the intersection of Third Street and Park Avenue. The police officer said the rider was in front of his marked police cruiser when the incident occurred.

PIQUA (JULY 13) - A West Water Street resident reported to police that someone went through his unlocked vehicle between 3 and 6 a.m. The only item the man reported as stolen was his Ninja Turtles wallet.

PIQUA (JULY 14) – A woman contacted police complaining about a family member posting rumors about her on Facebook. No threats had been made in the postings. The woman was advised to block that family member on Facebook. Police also answered her questions about obtaining a protection order.

VANDALIA (JULY 5) – Someone vandalized two vending machines at the Butler Auto Bath between July 3 and July 5. Access to the coin/bill boxes were attempted, but failed, police said. Damage to the machines was estimated at $10,000.

VANDALIA (JULY 6) – Police were called to a National Road business on a report of a disturbance involving an employee who showed up for work intoxicated. The employee drove off before police arrived. A car driven by the employee was stopped nearby. The driver was the employee and was intoxicated. She was charged with driving while under the influence and released to a friend.

TROY (JULY 13) – An employee of Wal-Mart called police about a woman being in the restroom for about two hours. Police arrived and contacted the woman, who refused to open the restroom door. Force was used to gain entry, where the woman was found, huffing a can of compressed air. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and charged with abusing harmful intoxicants.
