Police are taking bones that were found behind a South Yellow Springs Street church to Springfield Regional Medical Center to determine if they are human or animal.

The bones were found on the edge of an overgrown lot behind a church in the 100 block of Yellow Springs Street.

Police are investigating after bones were found near a Springfield church.

Officers responded Monday afternoon to the 100 block of South Yellow Springs Street.

It is not clear whether the bones are human or animal, according to police.
