UPDATE: Coroner ID’s 46-year-old man as victim of deadly overnight shooting

UPDATE @ 2:10 p.m.: 

The man who died after a reported shooting on Leland Avenue has been identified as Jeffery Ferguson, 46, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Ferguson’s hometown was not released. His cause and manner of death were still under investigation, Harshbarger said.

Additional details were not released.

FIRST REPORT

A man is dead after police responded to a reported shooting on Leland Avenue in Dayton early Monday morning, according to a police incident report.

Officers and medics were called to a house in the 900 block of Leland Avenue around 1:20 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a shooting victim was in front of their house, according to police scanner traffic.

The victim’s identity was not released, pending notification of family, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Dayton police are expected to release additional details on the investigation later today.
