Drive-by shooting in Dayton sends one victim to hospital

UPDATE @ 5:09 p.m. 

A male was shot in the arm during an afternoon drive-by shooting on Ashwood Avenue in Dayton.

The gunshot victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

The victim was involved in an argument with passengers in a green van around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday before the van door opened and one of the passengers fired shots at the victim, Dayton police Sgt. Creigee Coleman said.

Police said there were three males inside the van.

The victim was found in the 100 block of Ashwood Avenue after calling 911 to report he had been shot in the arm.

A nearby house also was hit by at least three bullets, according to reports.

Police and medics have responded to reports of a person shot on Ashwood Avenue in Dayton Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Ashwood Avenue around 1:20 p.m. after the caller he was shot by two people.

Initial reports indicate the victim was shot in the arm, but their condition was not immediately known.
