Water service returns to Covington; Flood-triggered power issue resolved

UPDATE @ 9:43 p.m.: The well field is back on line and residents may resume normal water use, Covington Village Administrator Michael Busse said.

Power to the well field was restored about 5:30 p.m., he said, but village officials held off making any announcement until they were sure everything was working correctly.

INITIAL REPORT

Residents who receive water from the Village of Covington in Miami County are asked to limit their water use to “an absolute minimum” due to a power outage at the well field.

Flooding conditions in the area of the well are also hampering efforts by DP&L crews to restore power to the facility, according to Village Administrator Michael Busse.

“Once power is restored to our well field, we will be issuing further instructions about continue water usage,” Busse said in a prepared statement.

Residents were also notified with a one-call by the village, Busse said.
