Overdose deaths: Montgomery County sees lowest levels since 2015

Preliminary numbers released by the county show March had the lowest amount of overdose deaths in the county since 2015.

According to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, 15 overdose deaths were recorded this March, the lowest number since March 2015, when 12 overdose deaths were reported.

The entire community’s response to the opioid crisis — from those focusing on treatment to law enforcement to  education — has helped bring the number of deaths down, said Dan Suffoletto, Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County spokesman.

“It’s not just one thing that reduced the number of deaths. It’s everyone working together,” he said.
