Record number of CCW permits issued in Ohio

More than 145,000 concealed carry licenses were issued in Ohio in 2013, the most since licenses were first issued in 2004.

County sheriffs issued 145,342 total licenses -- 96,972 new ones and 48,370 renewals, according to a report issued by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine's office.

The previous record for licenses issued in a single year, 76,810, was set in 2012, according to DeWine's office.

Each county sheriff is required to report statistics on concealed handgun licenses quarterly to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, which is within the atorney general's office, according DeWine's office.
