ID released of man found dead in Fairborn car fire

Police are investigating after a body was found inside a vehicle that caught fire early Sunday morning in Fairborn.

The body of 27-year-old Daniel Dawson was discovered inside a vehicle that was engulfed in flames early Sunday morning, according to Fairborn police.

The body was positively identified through dental records, police said.

Preliminary findings from the autopsy were not released. Police said the State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in the investigation.

Firefighters and police are investigating after a body was found at the scene of a car fire in Fairborn Sunday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the parking lot of the Skyway Shopping Plaza in the 1100 block of Kauffman Avenue on a report of a car fire around 4:46 a.m.

The body was discovered after firefighters responded and extinguished the flames, according to police. The body was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle — a silver 2001 Volkswagen Jetta.

Police said a positive identity of the person who died has not been made.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death. The investigation into the death is being conducted by Fairborn police.
