1 remains critical after U.S. 127 crash in Darke Co.

Cody Shafer, of Bradford, who was a passenger in the Nissan, remains in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

The driver, Rodney Abney, also of Bradford, has been released from the hospital.

Three people suffered injuries, one critically, after a crash in Darke County late Saturday night.

Deputies and medics were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 127 and state Route 47 just before around 11:55 p.m. Saturday on a reported two vehicle crash with injuries.

Deputies said in a release, a 2009 Nissan driven by Rodney Abney, 24, of Bradford was traveling east on state Route 47 and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 127. Abney’s vehicle hit a 2008 Suzuki driven by Cierra Wolfe, 24, of Greenville who was traveling south on U.S. 127.

Abney and a passenger in his car, Cody Shafer, 24, of Bradford, were injured and taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

Shafer is listed in critical condition while Abney is listed in stable condition.

Wolfe also suffered injuries and was initially transported to Wayne Health Care in Greenville before being transferred to Miami Valley Hospital. Deputies did not release her condition and she was not listed as a patient at Miami Valley Hospital, according to a hospital representative.

Deputies did not cite any factors in the crash but said the incident remains under investigation.
