Every department is to be updated and lower shelving should allow people to see more easily across the store, she said.
The store will have a new layout designed to make shopping for easier and faster by putting together products customers purchase the most, Stanfield said. Those include pet and baby supplies, groceries, paper goods and health and beauty merchandise. The electronics department and the party supplies department, Celebration Station, which includes cards, balloons and gift-wrapping supplies, are being expanded.
The remodeling is part of a five-year program for renovating up to 80 percent of Walmart’s existing stores, Stanfield said. This is the second year of the program.
New stores will include the new layout, she said. The Walmart in Moraine was remodeled with the new design and the relocated store in Miamisburg also has the new design.
The Sugarcreek Twp. store, including all departments and services, will remain open during the renovations. Maps of the store layout will be available at the entrance and directional signage will be located throughout the store.
About 100 people have been hired to help with the project, with the majority of the moving and construction work being done during overnight hours.
