Escapees from MonDay Correctional Facility caught, back in custody

UPDATE @ 9:50 a.m. (June 7):

The two men who escaped the MonDay Community Correctional Institution last Wednesday night have been caught and are back in custody, according to Dayton police.

Joey McBride and Dylan Rue were found around 9 a.m. in the area of Spaulding Road.

UPDATE @ 7:15 p.m.: The Dayton Police Department is asking the public for help in tracking down the two men who escaped from the MonDay Community Correctional Institution on Wednesday night.

Police on Thursday afternoon released photos and details about each man.

One is Dylan Rue, 23, who is 5-foot-10, 175 pounds with brown hair and eyes. His last known address is in New Lebanon.

The other is Joey McBride, 40, who is 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. His last known address is in Dayton.

If you know them, see them or know of their whereabouts, you are asked to call 9-1-1.

UPDATE @ 8:56 a.m. (June 6):

An investigation is under way at the MonDay Community Correctional Facility after two men escaped Wednesday night.

The men reportedly escaped on foot around 9 p.m.

“We are conducting an internal investigation to determine the cause of the escape and once concluded we will take appropriate security measures to correct the situation,” said Mike Flannery, director of the facility.

The names or descriptions of the men have been released.

INITIAL REPORT (June 5)

Two people have escaped from the MonDay Community Correctional Institution, 1951 S. Gettysburg Ave.

They reportedly are on foot, according to county law enforcement radio communications. The escapes were reported just before 9 p.m.

MonDay, with 220 beds, serves Montgomery, Greene, Preble, Darke, Fayette and Miami counties.

Male and female felony offenders are referred to MonDay by the sentencing Common Pleas Court, adult parole authority and by judicial release.

Several programs are offered at MonDay, including behavioral therapy, relationship classes, sex offender treatment, employment readiness and community service programs.
