Deputy injured, officer assistance requested after fight at Harrison Twp. school

UPDATE @ 4 p.m.:

A disagreement between students at the Summit Academy Transition High School  escalated into a fight prompting a response by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, according to the school’s CEO.

The incident happened at the bus stop outside the school shortly after the school let out around 3 p.m., Summit Academy Management CEO John Guyer said.

Guyer said 911 calls were made after the disagreement escalated, prompting the response from deputies.

Deputies requested a countywide “signal 99” for officer assistance after the fight broke out, emergency scanner traffic indicates.

A medic unit was requested after the fight broke up for a deputy who suffered an injury during the incident.

Deputies declined to release additional details at the scene about the incident.

FIRST REPORT

Medics have been requested for a deputy who was reportedly injured attempting to break up a fight at the Summit Academy Transition High School in Harrison Twp. Friday afternoon.

Deputies requested a “signal 99” for countywide officer assistance around 3 p.m. after at least one large fight broke out at the school on 251 Erdiel Drive.

There were no reports of injuries to any students.

The officer assistance request was quickly cancelled, however multiple deputies remain at the scene, initial reports indicate.
