UPDATE @ 7:26 a.m. (June 14):
Richmond police said they were notified at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday that U.S. Marsals had arrested Austin Neathery on a murder warrant.
Neathery was arrested near an apartment complex in Speedway, Indiana, but details of the apprehension are unknown, according to police.
Richmond police had been in contact with the Marshals since the warrant was issued, as Neathery was believed to have fled the area shortly after the shooting.
UPDATE @ 10:46 p.m. (June 13):
Austin Neathery, accused of shooting Richmond teen Antwone-Tremell Carpenter on May 29, was booked into the Marion County Jail in Indianapolis Wednesday evening on a warrant out of Wayne County.
Richmond newspaper the Palladium-Item reported he was apprehended by agents with the U.S. Marshal's Office in Speedway Indiana at approximately 6 p.m. A public release of the arrest has not been issued at this time.
Neathery was booked on one count of murder and is expected to eventually be transferred to the Wayne County Jail.
UPDATE @ 10:27 p.m. (June 13):
Austin Neathery was booked this evening into the Marion County Jail in Indianapolis on the warrant out of Wayne County.
He is accused of fatally shooting Anwone-Tremell Montre Carpenter on May 29.
FIRST REPORT (June 8):
Richmond police have identified 18-year-old Austin Neathery as the primary suspect in the May 29 homicide of Antwone-Tremell Montre Carpenter, department officials said in a statement issued Friday afternoon.
An arrest warrant for Neathery on the charge of murder has been issued through Wayne County Superior Court.
Police consider Neathery armed and dangerous and cautions citizens not to approach him if located.
