Richmond school shooting: Indiana officials issue statements

Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb and Congressman-elect Greg Pence issued statements after law enforcement reported an active shooter situation was over at Dennis Intermediate School in Richmond, Ind.

Indiana State Police report a teenager who had threatened to shoot up the school committed suicide after being cornered by law enforcement inside the intermediate school this morning.

The Wayne County Coroner’s Office identified 14-year-old Brandon Clegg as the suspect.

Holcomb issued the following statement: “Earlier this morning, I directed the Indiana State Police to work with all local responders at the shooting at Dennis Intermediate School. We will continue to work with the school and Superintendent Jennifer McCormick to do everything possible to assist the community and support all those impacted by this terrible unfolding situation.”
