James Free Jewelers robber knocks down employee as he flees

UPDATE @ 4:50 p.m.

A James Free Jewelers staff member suffered minor injuries after a robber knocked into an employee trying to stop him.

Just before 3:30 p.m., a man wearing a black jacket and green hat entered the store and asked to see some merchandise, said John Jung of the Kettering Police Department.

“Shortly after seeing the merchandise he took that merchandise and fled the scene on foot,” Jung said.

He would not specify what was taken, but said it was of “significant value.”

“As he was trying to get out of the jewelry store he did run into an employee. It looked like the employee tried to stop him and he ran into them,” Jung said.

Jung said patrol officers “immediately started looking in the area,” and a K-9 attempted to track the suspect.

“We are going to be on the lookout for this individual for quite some time, until we apprehend him.”
