A mulch fire that broke out Monday evening around 6:30 p.m. caused minor damage to the inside of the Rossburg Village Administrative Building.

Crews were dispatched to a report of light smoke showing, Rossburg Fire Chief Doug Cochran said. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene.

“When we got here there was light smoke, but we definitely had fire in the mulch,” he said.

Once crews knocked it down, they saw the fire went up the exterior wall.

They forced entry into the building, and were able to extinguish the rest of the fire that caused minor damage, including to some insulation, the chief said.
