8 RTA passengers injured when stolen car cuts off bus in traffic

Eight RTA passengers suffered minor injuries when the bus driver suddenly stopped the bus when it was cut off in traffic by a vehicle reported to have been stolen, Dayton police said.

The accident at East Helena and North Keowee streets was reported about 4:21 p.m.

Witnesses told police the car traveled through a grassy area before coming onto the street and cutting off the bus. The bus riders were tossed about when the driver hit the brakes.

Four medic units were dispatched to the scene. All eight passengers were taken to hospitals. None of the injuries are believed to be serious, police said.

Police did not pursue the car a witness described as a white Chevrolet Impala.
