Vehicle accidents among damage reports from severe morning storms in region

Storm damage was reported throughout the Miami Valley as severe thunderstorms swept through Sunday morning. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout the early morning.

Here are some of the reports of damage:

DARKE COUNTY:

  • About 6 a.m., the 911 call center reported trees down on Wildcat Road, causing an accident.

  • At 6:10 a.m., the 911 call center reported a downed tree across the 4400 block of Children's Home-Bradford Road (see photo above), causing an accident when the driver struck it. The driver was unable to see the tree, which was downed across the road, because of heavy wind and rain, sheriff's deputies said. The driver and passenger were examined at the scene for minor injuries.

GREENE COUNTY:

  • About 8:15 a.m., viewer reported sudden and loud winds that caused minor damage.

LOGAN COUNTY:

  • About 6:30 a.m., the 911 call center reported a tree down on North Oak Road and a power pole down on Houser Road in Lakeview.

MIAMI COUNTY:

  • About 6:22 a.m., the Piqua 911 call center reported a tree down on a house. Location was not available.

SHELBY COUNTY:

  • About 6:23 a.m., the 911 call center in Sidney reported trees down on power lines at state Route 47 and Herring Road.

UNION COUNTY:

  • About 7:21 a.m., the 911 call center reported multiple utility poles down, causing road closure at Jerome and Blaney roads in Ostrander.
