Sheriff: Man runs from Washington Twp. crash, is captured in Springboro

A man accused of running from a three-vehicle crash in Washington Twp. tonight is in custody after he was apprehended more than 2 miles away in Springboro.

The man was in a Honda passenger car, a truck or a third vehicle in the crash at Yankee Street and Ashbury Meadows Drive just after 6:30 p.m., according to a sergeant with Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

One of the vehicles rolled, but dispatch records aren't clear about which one did or which one the man was in.

One of the crash victims was taken to Southview Hospital in Washington Twp. That victim's condition was not known.

Sheriff's deputies and Springboro police searched for the man, but did not locate him, according to a Springboro police dispatcher.

Just after 8:30 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff's Office contacted Montgomery County to report that they captured the man in the 300 block of East Lytle Five Points Road, the regional dispatch sergeant said.

Montgomery County deputies went to Warren County to bring the man back and find out why he ran.

The walk or run from Ashbury Meadows Drive to East Lytle Five Points Road is 2.4 miles, if the route is on Yankee Street.

The distance probably is shorter if a person walks or runs streets in the neighborhood bracketed by Yankee Street and North Bunnell Hill Road.
