Sign-up available for Wright-Patt’s Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program

The sign-up to become a sponsor in the Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program, coordinated by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base First Sergeant Council, is now open.

The program’s guidelines remain the same as previous years: Military members with the rank of E-5 and below as well as reservists and civilians with the grade of GS-5 and below are eligible. Only first sergeants may submit names, but they will take suggestions of eligible families who could benefit from the program. Eligible families are needed at this time.

“The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base First Sergeant Council’s goal is to ensure that our Airman, military and civilian, can have a wonderful holiday season with perhaps a little less stress and little more joy,” said Master Sgt. Benjamin Seekell, who is serving as the point of contact for the Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program.

The unit first sergeants determine the eligibility of active-duty military and civilian families who need assistance with holiday gifts for their children up to age 18.

Sponsor registrations are due to the unit point of contact or first sergeant by Nov. 15.

Sponsors adopting a family will be given an envelope containing only information listing the gender and age of the child or children, a code name and a suggested gift list. Up to four brand-new gifts per child are suggested. Gift cards or similar gifts are acceptable for the parents, too.

More information on drop-off location and dates is forthcoming.

To become an Adopt-A-Family sponsor or to volunteer to organize gifts for pick-up/distribution, contact Seekell at benjamin.g.seekell.mil@mail.mil or 937-608-7887. Sponsors, including retirees, may be on- or off-base.
