The cause of the blaze, which destroyed the three-unit building, is undetermined as of Tuesday night, said Fire Capt. Randy Combs, who was at the scene.
“That’s the third time I’ve had a whole apartment complex be totaled,” said Combs, who has been at the department 16 years.
He estimated damages at $200,000 to the structure.
Trenton police Sgt. Mike Matala said the fire was controlled just after 7:30 a.m. by the Trenton Fire Department with assistance from crews from Madison and St. Clair townships and Monroe.
Butler County Fire Investigation Team, a volunteer group, is done investigating the fire but results are to come, Combs said.
Two residents of one unit were treated and released from Atrium Medical Center for possible smoke inhalation, Combs said. Four residents from the second unit were in the process of moving from the apartment and the third unit was unoccupied, he said.
