New homes in Sugarcreek Twp. will have many drivers taking a detour for the rest of the week.

Swigart Road will be closed for three days for a water main installation between Stutsman and Little Sugarcreek roads.

News Center 7's Adam Marshall explains the local traffic impact and what drivers are saying.

One resident who recently moved to the area drives this way often, but thinks the road closure is no big deal.

“I mean, they’ve given ample warning, so drivers have been able to figure out if they need to take a detour or change their timing,” Marc Rasor said.

The detour will be Stutsman Road to South Alpha-Bellbrook Road to Upper Bellbrook Road to Feedwire Road to Little Sugarcreek Road.

“It’s all part of the progress. It’s new development. The city is growing. The township is growing. It’s all part of the need for housing, it’s understandable," Rasor said.
