The science of throwing parties will be on display in full force on Feb. 27 when the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery launches its newly branded Eureka!: Sip, Savor, Science event — an exciting new reboot to replace their well-known Science of Wine fundraiser.

The museum’s hands-on learning interactives, which delight kids year-round, will be brought to an adult level for one night focusing on the art, history, culture and science of human body transformation.

"We are excited to match our mission to the theme of our events and Eureka! is a perfect example," said Dona Vella, Vice President of External Relations for the Dayton Society of Natural History. "With 1.7 million objects in our collection and the expertise of our staff, the museum has the singular ability to shine the light on subject matter that is incredibly interesting. However, we never lose our ability to have some fun at the same time."

The evening will feature:

• Drag queen and drag king transformations
• A DIY photo booth, presented by Square One and The Rubi Girls, where stylists will help guests find their inner diva and channel Marilyn, Marie Antoinette, or Joan of Arc
• Extreme body modification presentations in the Planetarium, featuring topics ranging from body building to plastic surgery
• Body modification and culture, presented by the Dayton Society of Natural History Collections Department
• 3D printing and "Bad Tattooing" demonstrations in the Do Lab
• Temporary tattoos

In addition, guests will have the opportunity to see live tattooing done on-site by Truth & Triumph on Amelia Robinson of Dayton.com and the Dayton Daily News, Vivienne Machi of Dayton.com and Chuck Vella of Vella, Inc. Online voting for the tattoos will be conducted in advance to decide on the tattoos given that evening.

Robinson, who is chairing the event with her husband Anthony Shoemaker, also of the Dayton Daily News had this to say: "It is like nothing Dayton has ever seen, and as the incredible name suggests, there will be revelations around every single corner. ... More than anything, it is a kicking party showcasing a great organization. Some of the city's most talented people will be there."

Tickets are $75 for members; $90 for non-members and include heavy hors d'oeuvres, craft beer and wine stations, a full bar located on the second floor, and all activities. The event will also offer a signature cocktail as well as a taste of the winning recipe from the Miami Valley Restaurant Association's 2016 Battle of the Bartenders, who will be crowned two days before the event on Feb. 24 (visit dineoutdayton.com for details).

"Partygoers will be about to walk on the edge and transform themselves if only for an evening," said Robinson. "This event is a celebration of the human body and how we transform ourselves in the name of creative love and beauty."
