Vacant homes can become a blight on neighborhoods — that’s why leaders in this southwest Ohio community say they continue to demolish them whenever possible.

Fairborn Community Development Director Mike Gebhart said demolition work at 1848 Superior Ave. begins today, and demolition at 645 June Drive will begin after. Already, the structure at 2 Holgate Court was demolished in this round of demolitions.
Next up, Fairborn intends to demolish four additional houses at these addresses:
- 606 Grant Drive
- 1563 Superior Ave.
- 839 Flintridge Drive
- 331 Mann Ave.
Bidding for contractors wishing to demolish these houses will begin next week, with demolition likely beginning in March, Gebhart said.
