The Dayton area's only Primanti Bros. restaurant along North Fairfield Road near the Mall at Fairfield Commons is "under reconstruction," and there is no projected timeline yet for reopening, a spokesman for the Pittsburgh-based restaurant chain said.

“The damage was a little more significant that we thought at first glance,” the spokesman told this news outlet.

The day after the storms, the spokesman said the restaurant suffered some roof and exterior damage, but no no structural damage.  But that assessment changed after closer examination of the building.

Repairs are underway, “and we’re working to get it open as soon as we can,” the Primanti Bros. spokesman said.

No one was injured in or around the restaurant when the Memorial Day tornado struck. Repairs are also underway to a nearby structure that formerly housed Abuelo’s Mexican restaurant and will open as an El Toro Bar & Grill.
