Trotwood school board appoints member to fill vacancy until 2019

A longtime Trotwood resident and retired Trotwood-Madison Schools teacher has joined the school board.

Michael Andrews was sworn in Thursday night during the Trotwood-Madison City school board's business meeting. He will fill the balance of Boy Hastings's term, which ends Dec. 31, 2019.

Andrews also will serve as a liaison on the Trotwood-Madison Educational Foundation committee.

Andrews retired from the school system in 2011 after 30 years of serving the elementary and middle school levels. He earned his Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Central State University, and a Master in education from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Since retiring from education, Andrews has served as a team leader for the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

"He brings a unique perspective to the Board, having been directly involved in our school system as an educator," President Denise Moore said.
