Vandalia teen dies of injuries after pursuit, crash in Harrison Twp.

A Vandalia teen died Monday of her injuries following a pursuit that ended in a crash last week at North Dixie Drive and Hillsdale Avenue in Harrison Twp.

Rodnesha L. Thompson, 18, was pronounced dead Monday at Kettering Medical Center, according Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Her cause and manner of death have not been determined at this time.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. We are working to learn more details about the incident.

A car crashed into a sheriff’s vehicle and a house Thursday at the corner of North Dixie Drive and Hillsdale Avenue following a pursuit.

The driver’s three passengers all suffered serious injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

The pursuit began around 3:45 p.m. after a sheriff’s detective saw a Ford Five Hundred sedan that was reported as stolen on Needmore Road.

The car turned onto North Dixie Drive where a sheriff’s cruiser turned on its lights and sirens.

The detective’s car, which also had emergency lights on, was hit by the Ford and pushed back.

The car then fled south on North Dixie Drive and was chased by several cruisers, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver lost control of the car and crossed the northbound lanes, hitting a house at the corner of North Dixie Drive and Hillsdale Avenue.

The driver ran from the scene, but was apprehended shortly after.
