UPDATE @ 9:07 a.m.:

The Dollar Tree, Midas, and Auto Zone are open after being forced to close because of a possible gas leak Friday.

The Jiffy Lube on North Dixie Drive reported a smell of gas Saturday around 8:15 a.m.

According to a man who claimed to be a Jiffy Lube employee, police were called as a precaution to what was remaining circulating gas.

The Jiffy Lube was advised to open its garage doors, according to the employee.

It remains open along with the other businesses in the area.

UPDATE @ 8:30 p.m. (Friday):

The gas supplying the line on North Dixie Drive has been shut off. Streets in the area of the leak remain shut down until further notice.

UPDATE @ 7:52 p.m. (Friday):

Midas and AutoZone, two more businesses along North Dixie Drive and south of Needmore Road, have been evacuated and shut down because of the gas leak, we’re hearing.

Again, there have been no reports of injury.

INITIAL REPORT (Friday):

A reported vehicle accident along North Dixie Drive has prompted the shutdown of nearby streets and a call to Vectren because a gas main has been broken.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies and fire crews were called to North Dixie Drive at Needmore Road just after 7 p.m. on a report of a vehicle into a structure.

The broken gas main is along North Dixie Drive, south of Needmore Road, near a Jiffy Lube.

We're not hearing any reports of injuries, but traffic in the area is being rerouted. We're also hearing that customers at the Dollar Tree on Needmore Road are being told to leave the store because of the gas leak investigation.

Crews also are checking with a Kroger, where there are still customers, and a muffler shop along Needmore Road to see if there is gas leaking at either of those businesses.

We have a crew on the way. We will update this developing report as information is made available.
