Victim in fatal Dayton house fire ID’d

UPDATE @ 10:35 p.m. 

The man who died following a house fire this morning in the 100 block of Willowwood Drive has been identified as 69-year-old Terry Wilmer, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

His preliminary cause of death was not released. Wilmer was pronounced dead after he was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital.

The cause of the fire, reported by a neighbor, also has not been determined.

UPDATE @ 9:57 a.m.

A neighbor called 911 to report the house in the 100 block of Willowwood Drive this morning.

“I see nothing but black smoke coming out of his house, and it’s coming out the top window,” the neighbor told dispatchers. “I knocked on the doors. I knocked on the side windows, and nobody’s answering.”

UPDATE @ 9:32 a.m.

One person has died in the house fire this morning after being transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, firefighters said.

Firefighters said Dayton Power and Light reported that the duplex did not have any power going to it.

Investigators also said there was little furniture inside the residence.

Dayton firefighters have pulled a man out of a burning home on Willowwood Drive this morning.

The man was pulled out wrapped in a blanket and was taken to a medic to be evaluated.

We’re working to learn more about his condition.

INITIAL REPORT:

A structure fire has been reported on Willowwood Drive this morning.

Firefighers responded to the 100 block of Willowwood around 8 a.m.

Initial reports indicated fire was showing from the second floor.
