Police said Cottrill later fled the area in a car, leading  officers on a pursuit. During the pursuit shots were exchanged between Cottrill and officers, police said.

The pursuit ended in a crash at Burkhardt and South Garland avenues and Cottrill was later taken into custody.

He remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail and is being held on a probation violation.

Charges connected to the incident are still pending.
