At least a half-dozen doughnut shops across the Dayton area have now shut their doors temporarily in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the statewide “stay-at-home” order, but those shuttered stores are outnumbered by shops that have remained open as carryout-only operations to provide one of our favorite comfort foods.

The list of shops that remain open includes multiple locations of two of the country’s largest chains, Tim Hortons and Dunkin’ (formerly Dunkin’ Donuts), but it also includes several locally owned and independent doughnut bakeries.

Remember, shops that sell food for carryout are exempted from the statewide stay-at-home order, which allows Ohio residents to venture out to food stores, carryout restaurants and beverage shops, including doughnut shops.
