Woman accused of attack on public defender charged with throwing bodily substance on jail staff, inmates

A West Carrollton woman accused of attacking her public defender and threatening a magistrate in Dayton Municipal Court last month is now accused of throwing bodily substances at jail staff and inmates.

Kallen Nicole Wood, 28, will be arraigned Tuesday on four counts of harassment by an inmate (bodily substance) in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Wood is accused on April 2 of throwing her bodily substances on two Montgomery County Jail corrections officers and two female inmates, according to her indictment by a county grand jury.

Courtroom security captured Wood, while in handcuffs, attack a public defender April 17 when she appeared for a misdemeanor domestic violence case.

She was indicted on two counts of retaliation, one count of intimidation, both felonies, and a misdemeanor assault charge.

Judge Timothy O’Connell on May 15 ordered an inpatient competency and sanity examination in connection to the April 17 incident, and her attorney, Marshall Lachman, filed a motion Wednesday for a competency evaluation for the charges levied this week against Wood.
